7th Grade Boys Basketball wins the Randolph County Championship

In the semi-finals of the Boys Randolph County Tournament, the Monroe Central 7th Grade Boys Basketball team defeated Union City by a score of 51-40. Despite a slow start, the Bears rebounded tremendously to take an 8 point lead into the half. Steady play in the second half helped the Bears reach the County final. Great teamwork and doing the little things right were the keys to victory. Luke Morgan led the Bears in scoring with 33, while Peyton Chamness added 5, and Cooper Huston and Weston Grove scored 4 a piece. In the Randolph County Championship game, the Golden Bears were able to defeat and win their second straight County Championship over Randolph Southern, 44-27. A great start to the game put the Bears in the driver’s seat for the rest of the game. Great play and execution by the entire team was the key to success, as well as great team defense. Everyone chipped in the Bears final game of the season, helping end the season on a high note. Luke Morgan led the Bears in scoring with 29 points, while Weston Grove added 5 and Peyton Chamness and Myles Oliphant each scored 4. The Bears ended the season with a 15-5 record and a 10-2 record in MEC play.
