Shenandoah 28, Monroe Central 7 The Monroe Central football team wrapped up its regular season with a 28-7 road loss to Shenandoah Friday night. The Golden Bears’ defense put in a strong effort, allowing just 156 yards of total offense, but mistakes on the offensive side of the ball, including four turnovers and allowing a safety on their opening drive, put them in a precarious situation throughout the game. Trailing 21-0 at halftime, though, Monroe Central took the second-half kickoff and went 62 yards in 11 plays, getting into the end zone with a nifty lateral play from quarterback Lane Wilson to Justus Ullom to his brother, Jerimiah, who reached the end zone from 10 yards out to cut the lead to 21-7. But the Raiders were able to fend off the Golden Bears the rest of the way. Wilson completed 11-of-27 passes for 57 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions. Ethan Hunt led the rushing attack with 12 carries for 87 yards. Travis Reed led the Monroe Central defense with an unofficial 11 tackles on the night. Jerimiah Ullom had two tackles for loss, including a sack, while Julius Ullom also had a sack and a forced fumble. The Golden Bears wrapped up their 2024 regular season campaign with a 6-3 record, marking the 11th time the program has won at least six games in the last 12 seasons. Monroe Central now moves into tournament play, as it travels to take on Madison-Grant next Friday in IHSAA Sectional 44 action.
