North Decatur 42, Monroe Central 6 The Monroe Central football team suffered its first loss of the season, 42-6, to Mid-Eastern Conference foe North Decatur Friday night in Parker City. The Golden Bears (2-1) trailed 14-0 late in the second quarter, but the Chargers (2-1) stunned the hosts over the final 1:10 of the first half. First, North Decatur struck gold on an 85-yard touchdown passing play. A successful Chargers onside kick with 12 seconds left in the quarter was then immediately followed by a 46 yard rushing touchdown. By halftime, Monroe Central trailed 28-0. A botched snap on a Golden Bears punt play on their first drive of the third quarter set up the Chargers at the Monroe Central 3-yard line, and North Decatur would run it in from there and add the extra point to extend its lead to 35-0 and enact the running clock for the rest of the game. The Golden Bears’ lone touchdown came later in the third quarter, capping an eight-play, 70-yard drive, as quarterback Lane Wilson found Carter Duncan for an 11-yard touchdown passing play. Wilson completed 10-of-22 passes for 124 yards with a touchdown and an interception each. Duncan led the Golden Bears with four receptions for 57 yards and a score. Peyton Farmer led the Monroe Central defense with six tackles. Logan Horne added a sack for a loss of seven yards. The Golden Bears look to get back on track next Friday, as they play host to Tri.
