7th Grade: Monroe Central 7th Grade Lady Bears Dominate in Three-Set Victory Over Northeastern Knights The Monroe Central 7th Grade Lady Bears delivered a dominant performance last night, securing a decisive victory over the Northeastern Knights in a thrilling three-set match. The Bears claimed the first set with a commanding 25-10 win, faced a narrow 23-25 loss in the second, and then bounced back to clinch the third set 15-8. In a true team effort, all 12 of Monroe Central’s players saw action on the court, contributing to the win. Haidyn Knott led the charge from the service line with an impressive 8 aces, while Bristol Goad added 6 aces while serving 14 straight points, keeping the Knights on their heels throughout the match. Callie Grove also shined with 4 aces, demonstrating the depth of Monroe Central's serving power. Izzy McGrath was a force at the net. once again, recording 5 kills and 2 blocks, effectively disrupting Northeastern’s offensive efforts. Landry Taylor played a crucial role as the team’s playmaker, dishing out 6 assists that set up key plays and ensured the Bears’ victory. The Lady Bears' strong performance underscores their potential as they continue their season. With contributions from every player, Monroe Central is building a solid foundation for future success. 8th Grade: In their best game of the season so far, the 8th grade volleyball team fell just short to Northeastern 23-25, 25-24, 12-15. Highlight performances included Emma Pugsley with 6 assists, 1 kill, 1 ace. McKenna Murphy had 5 kills. May Morrison had 4 kills and 2 aces. Lucy Huston had 4 assists, 2 aces, and 1 dig. Gracee Burris had a pair of aces; Ivy Phelps had a pair of digs; Braelynn Gibbs grabbed her first dig of the year. Coach Sims is super proud of the energy and effort on the court all night long. Lady Bears are back in action on Tuesday evening at Blue River Valley.
