6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Volleyball falls to Shenandoah

6th Grade: The 6th grade girls put up and good fight last night in their first match of the season against Shenandoah, losing only by a couple of points, 21 to 25 and 24 to 25 in the second. Adelyn Pugsley carried the team with her serves last night, serving up several aces for the MC Bears. The girls all played hard and fought until the end. The future is looking bright for the MC bears with these girls! 7th Grade: The Monroe Central 7th grade Lady Bears put up a good effort last night but ultimately fell short against the Shenandoah Raiders, losing in 2 straight matches with scores of 25-18 and 25-19. Despite the loss, the Lady Bears displayed determination and flashes of strong play throughout the match. Izzy McGrath led the team with multiple attacks, 1 kill and 2 blocks, making her presence known at the net and challenging the Raiders' attack. Bristol Goad was effective from the service line, delivering 2 aces that helped keep the Bears competitive. Gracie McCreery also contributed with 5 attacks, 2 kills, and 1 ace adding crucial points during key moments of the match. Despite the loss, Monroe Central showed promise and tenacity. The Lady Bears will look to learn from this experience and regroup as they prepare for their next match-up, eager to bounce back and continue improving throughout the season. 8th Grade: Tuesday night dealt the MC 8th grade volleyball team their first set win of the season! Ultimately, the Lady Bears were defeated by Shenandoah. Highlights included May Morrison had 2 aces and 1 kill. Gracee Burris had 3 aces. Emma Pugsley had 2 assists, 1 ace, and 1 kill. Mckenna Murphy had 1 kill. Ivy Phelps and Lucy Huston had 1 dig each. Next game is scheduled for Thursday evening at Northeastern.
