Varsity Baseball falls to Wapahani

Monroe Central - 6 Wapahani - 8 By GameChanger Media Even though Monroe Central Varsity Bears collected nine hits to Wapahani's eight, they still fell 8-6 on Friday. Isaac Middleton, Jackson Cooper, and Cole Luedike each collected two hits for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Wapahani jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Ethan Bragg drew a walk, scoring one run, and Hayden James singled, scoring two runs. Monroe Central Varsity Bears tied the game up in the top of the third thanks to two doubles. Monroe Central Varsity Bears tied the game at three on a double by Levi Pence. Monroe Central Varsity Bears took the lead in the top of the fourth. Middleton doubled, scoring three runs, to give Monroe Central Varsity Bears the upper hand, 6-3. Wapahani tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a walk by Noah Henderson, and a single by Landon Weller. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Wapahani went back into the lead after Quentine James singled, and Clay Estep singled, each scoring one run. Grayson Acosta earned the win for Wapahani. The reliever allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking two. Mason McCreery took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. They went two and one-third innings, surrendering two runs on five hits, striking out none and walking two. Logan Walker began the game for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The righty surrendered three hits and six runs (five earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking six. Brandt Longfellow stepped on the hill first for Wapahani. They surrendered eight hits and six runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking three. Monroe Central Varsity Bears amassed nine hits in the game. Middleton and Pence were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Monroe Central Varsity Bears turned one double play in the game. Weller drove the middle of the lineup, leading Wapahani with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Estep led Wapahani with three hits in three at bats. Wapahani had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Henderson and Nate Luce led the team with two walks each. Wapahani didn't commit a single error in the field.
