Some people want it to happen, some people wish it would happen, and then some make it happen. Your Monroe Central 8th Grade Lady Bears finished up their season on Saturday with a Randolph County Championship and a perfect 18-0 record on the year. The Bears routed the Union City Indians in the semi-finals at Randolph Southern by a score of 30-8. The ladies hard nosed defense held the Indians to only 2 fg's the entire game, while at the same time getting 15 steals from their opponent. On the offensive end of the court the Bears saw 7 different players put points on the board with the help of some good ball movement. Onto the Championship vs. "That team to the East" of Farmland Everyone has fire, but the champions know when to ignite the spark, and the Lady Bears fire was hot as they torched the nets for 32 points by halftime while holding their opponent to ZERO. The usual winning tip by Oaklei Davis led to a quick basket by Brynlee Patterson who had the hot hand early scoring 14 of her game high 17 pts in the first half. By the end of the 3rd quarter the Bears had a commanding lead by a score of 47-2. As the final buzzer sounded on the game and their Jr. High career, this group of girls keep turning the pages, as they know, a better chapter lies ahead. Aberee Ervin, Brynlee Patterson, Oaklei Davis, Lillian Konkle, Kayleigh Epperhart, Brylie Tinsman, Charlee Morris, Abby Thomas, and Haidyn Dumpert, Thank you Ladies for a memorable season, and to the family and friends who put in the time and dedication and believe in this special group of girls.
