6th/7th Grade Girls Basketball wins the Randolph County Tournament

The 6th and 7th grade girls basketball team put on two dominating performances in the Randolph County Tournament, capping off a great season of development and growth and returning COUNTY CHAMPS! In the opening contest, the Bears defense proved too much for Union City, with full court pressure resulting in a 17-2 first quarter. The Bears remained locked in and held the Indians scoreless in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, resulting in a 33-5 victory for the Lady Bears. All 12 players saw the court and 8 girls added their names to the scoring column. Mila Morris led all scorers with 10 points. Landry Taylor added 8 to go with 5 steals. Izzy McGrath added 4 and Mati McConnell added 3 points. Lucy Huston, Ada Wagner, Bristol Goad and Gracie McCreery all scored 2 in the win. Brynlee Dumpert, Lillie Moery, Claire Cheesman and Callie Grove all played well and contributed to the victory. In the championship matchup against Driver, the Bears got off to a hot start and never looked back, winning the opening quarter 15-0 enroute to 40-11 victory. The Bears were led in scoring by Mila Morris with 10 points and a game high 5 rebounds. Izzy McGrath got the Bears started early with 6 points to go with several blocks and steals. Lucy Huston finished with 6 points to go with 5 steals. Gracie McCreery and Claire Cheesman added 6 points each, with Cheesman connecting on back to back triples. Landry Taylor added 3 points to go with 4 assists and Brynlee Dumpert scored 3 while directing the defense and working hard in the paint. Ada Wagner, Bristol Goad, Lillie Moery, Mati McConnell and Callie Grove all played tough and confidently and positively impacted the game. The Lady Bears finish their season with 14 wins and 2 losses. All 12 players worked hard and as a team throughout the season and all showed significant growth and improvement along the way.
