6/7th Grade: The 6th and 7th grade girls basketball team traveled to Randolph Southern on Tuesday and defeated a scrappy Lady Rebel squad, 31-12. All 12 MC players saw significant floor time and contributed to the win. Landry Taylor continued her defensive thievery and was rewarded with several fast break layups. She led all scorers with 15 points. Gracie McCreery scored 6 points and assisted in several others thanks to her defense and court vision. Mila Morris and Claire Cheesman added 4 points each and Lucy Huston had 2. The entire team displayed good ball movement, tough defense and great passing which resulted in a fun evening of basketball and the Lady Bears gaining their 10th victory of the season. The Bears play their last home game on Thursday against Union City. Go Bears! 8th Grade: Hoops, they did it again. They played some basketball and won another game. The Lady Bears traveled down to Lynn on a foggy Tuesday night to face off against county and conference foe Randolph Southern. The Bears got off to a fast start as Oaklei Davis got the opening tip right to Aberee Ervin for a quick deuce followed by a trey from the top of the key by Brynlee Patterson who scored 8 of her 12 points in the first Quarter. After the first Stanza the Bears led 15-6, and would only give up 2 more points for the rest of the game on their way to a 46-8 victory over the Rebels. Ervin led all scorers with 17, Charlee Morris added 6, Haidyn Dumpert tossed in 4pts, Oaklei Davis, Brylie Tinsman and Abby Thomas each had a bucket of their own, while Kayleigh Epperhart chipped in with several steals and rebounds. The Bears pushed their record to 15-0, and will be playing their 3rd game of the week and regular season finale Thursday at home vs. Union City.
