Both Junior High Girls Basketball teams defeat Delta

6th/7th Grade: The 6th and 7th grade girls basketball team traveled to Delta on Wednesday night and returned victorious, beating a bigger and stronger Eagles team 31-25 for their 5th win of the season. After a cold start, the lady bears went on a scoring run that saw them outscore the home squad 14-7 in the second quarter. Leading the charge for MC was Izzy McGrath with 11 points, 5 blocks and 6 rebounds. Mila Morris dominated the boards, pulling down 9 rebounds to go with 2 steals and 2 assists. Gracie McCreery put up 6 points, that included a momentum swinging 3 pointer in the 2nd quarter that helped turn the game in MC’s favor. Landry Taylor turned in another solid performance, scoring 6 points to go with her 3 steals and 2 assists. The Lady Bears play next at home on January 2nd against the Tri Titans. Go Bears! 8th Grade: The 8th grade girls basketball team improved their record to a perfect 6-0, defeating the Delta Eagles in a convincing 44-23 road victory. The lady bears got off to a hot start and never looked back, thanks to great court vision and ball movement. Aberee Ervin lead the way for MC, scoring 10 first quarter points (18 total) to go with 7 assists and 4 steals. Oaklei Davis had 7 rebounds to go with 4 steals and 8 points. Charlee Morris was a beast on the offensive glass, pulling down 9 offensive rebounds and contributing to several second chance buckets for the team. Brylie Tinsman provided a spark off the bench, scoring 7 points and collecting 3 steals. Brynlee Patterson’s had a solid game that included 7 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Hayden Dumpert rounded off the scoring with 4 points to go with 3 rebounds and 4 deflections. Great game by all tonight! The Lady Bears play next on January 2nd when they host the Tri Titans in Hall Gym. Go Bears!
