7th Grade: The Monroe Central 7th Grade Boys Basketball team defeated conference rival Selma, 39-35. The Bears were lead in scoring by Alex Middleton with 16 points and Miles Gross had 14. The Bears are back in action Monday against Union City. 8th Grade: The Monroe Central 8th Grade Boys Basketball team defeated rival Selma Thursday night by a score of 49-39. The Bears started hot out the gate and never looked back, leading by as many as 24. Great all around team effort on the glass and offensive efficiency were key factors in the Bears victory. The Bears were led offensively by Luke Morgan with 33 points and Myles Oliphant with 12. Peyton Chamness, Eli Friend, Jed Ferguson, Casen Morris, Gabe McComb and Cooper Huston all made huge contributions for the Bears on both ends of the floor as well. The Bears (4-4) return to Hall Gym on Monday against county foe Union City with a 6:00 7th grade tip time.
