Varsity Football falls to Eastern Hancock

The Monroe Central football team suffered a 40-26 road loss to Eastern Hancock on Friday night. The Golden Bears (2-5, 1-3 Mid-Eastern Conference) fell into a 20-0 first quarter hole, but battled the rest of the way to stay neck-and-neck with the Royals (4-3, 2-0 MEC). Lane Wilson completed 12-of-25 passes for 169 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for Monroe Central; he also had a rushing touchdown. Brylen Case led the way with three receptions for 68 yards and a 49-yard touchdown reception; Justus Ullom also added a 22-yard touchdown reception. Jerimiah Ullom led the rushing attack for the Golden Bears with seven rushing attempts for 106 yards. Ethan Hunt added a rushing score. Ryder Bowlin led the Monroe Central defense with 12 total tackles (2.5 for a loss) with a forced fumble. Ethan Hunt contributed nine tackles and a pass breakup, while Elijah Goodspeed tallied seven total tackles and a sack. The Golden Bears return to action next Friday with a home matchup against Irvington Preparatory Academy.
