The Golden Bear football team won Friday in the annual Harvest Helmet Classic. The Bear's win marked the 11th consecutive victory in the Classic. The crowd was great and fun for all! The Golden Bears (2-4) earned touchdowns on their first two drives of the game — both scores by Jeremiah Ullom, who had a 13-yard receiving touchdown and a 69-yard rushing score — to quickly pull ahead 14-0. Justus Ullom would haul in a nine-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Lane Wilson in the second quarter to give Monroe Central a 20-0 halftime lead. After a scoreless third quarter, the Golden Bears found the end zone one final time in the final frame, thanks to a five-yard rushing score by Ethan Hunt. Wilson had an efficient night throwing the ball, as he completed 11-of-15 pass attempts for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Jerimiah Ullom had a standout night with 199 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns, including eight rushing attempts for 125 yards (15.6 average) and a touchdown, and two receptions for 74 yards and a score. Justus Ullom added four receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown. Monroe Central was led defensively by Ryder Bowlin, who had 11 tackles, including two tackles for a loss. Jerimiah Ullom and Izaiah Mangas also added sacks for the Golden Bears. Monroe Central returns to action next Friday with a road contest at Eastern Hancock. Kickoff is at 7:00PM.
