7th Grade: The 7th Grade Lady Bears basketball team hosted Yorktown and tamed the Tigers, defeating the guests 31-17 and moving their perfect season record to 5-0. Full court pressure defense led to many offensive opportunities for the Bears, though they struggled early to convert. Their tenacity continued all game and they wore the opponent down by the middle of the 3rd quarter. Alexa Tinsman showed up for a track meet and was surprised to see a basketball game break out. Her coverage of the entire court led the Bears’ defensive effort. Remmie Morrison, Scarlett Davis and Alayna Dickson worked hard on the boards and defending the paint. Delainee Whitehead and Mabrey Cheesman handled and distributed the ball well throughout the game. Scorers for the Bears were Alexa Tinsman with 11, Remmie Morrison and Scarlett Davis with 6, Mabrey Cheesman with 5 and Delainee Whitehead with 3. MC is back at it Tuesday when they travel to Lincoln - GO BEARS!!! 8th Grade: The 8th grade girls basketball team continued their winning ways last night at home against Yorktown, defeating the Tigers 40-25. The ladies were locked in on defense in the first half holding their opponent to 8 points. The scoring for the game is as follows. Izzy McGrath 14, Claire Cheeseman and Mila Morris 10, Lillie Morery, Mati McConnell and Brynlee Dumpert 2. The team will travel to Cambridge City Tuesday looking to keep the winning streak going.
