Wolves Sweep Portage for Fifth Win of the Season The Michigan City boys tennis team turned in a strong performance this afternoon, sweeping Portage 5-0 in varsity play to earn their fifth win of the season. The Wolves looked sharp across the board, combining steady singles play with strong teamwork in doubles. At the top of the lineup, Riley Emshwiller-Sowards controlled the pace at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win. At No. 2 singles, Jacob Hazel took a 6-3, 6-4 win. His victory clinched the Wolves’ sweep and capped off an impressive team performance. At No. 3 singles, Eli Green was dominant in a 6-1, 6-1 victory. In doubles action, Thomas Chatfield and Nic Williams continued their standout season at No. 1 doubles, defeating their Portage opponents 6-4, 6-2. The duo improved their personal record to 6-1 overall, further establishing themselves as a key anchor in the Wolves’ lineup. At No. 2 doubles, Zach Williams and Carson Groszek paired up to post a strong 6-1, 6-2 win. On the JV side, Aeden Phillips battled through a three-setter, earning a 4-0, 3-4, 4-0 victory in a competitive match. With the win, Michigan City improves to 5-2 on the season and 1-1 in DAC play.
