IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (5/19/25) "Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana" My favorite books and movies are usually based on true stories. I have always found inspiration learning about others who were accomplished or excelled in some area of their life. I challenge each student-athlete to read a book or watch a movie based on a true sports story. Here are several recommendations including a few you have likely never heard of but are excellent: Miracle--USA hockey team playing in the1980 Olympics Brian's Song--friendship between two unlikely teammates on the Chicago Bears (Brian Picolo and Gale Sayers) Jim Thorp All American--story of his rise to becoming an Olympic track star Chariots of Fire--story of two men who rise to victory in the 1924 Olympics There are more great stories out there including Hoosiers, Rudy, The Blind Side, and Remember the Titans. These are all true stories that might inspire you and drive you to strive for greatness! Enjoy! All content property of Billy Shepherd Sports (askbillyshep@aol.com)
