Athlete of the Week – Girls Volleyball – Ashlyn Nielsen, Senior This week’s Athlete of the Week is senior leader Ashlyn Nielsen, whose toughness, consistency, and leadership have stood out throughout the season. Despite battling injuries in recent weeks, Ashlyn has continued to perform at a high level, leading the team in kills and providing stability for a young Pioneer squad. Her competitive spirit was on full display in a hard-fought match against Speedway, where she recorded 11 kills in a five-set battle. Ashlyn’s ability to step up in key moments has been a difference-maker for Mooresville, and her steady presence on the court has helped guide and inspire her teammates. A consistent performer all year, Ashlyn embodies resilience and leadership, showing what it means to compete with heart while setting the tone for the rest of the program. Athlete of the Week – Boys Soccer – Noah Burns, Senior This week’s Athlete of the Week is senior captain Noah Burns, one of the Pioneers’ most reliable and impactful players. While he may not always get the spotlight, Noah is one of Mooresville’s very best defenders and has been a cornerstone of the program throughout his high school career. A four-year varsity player and three-year starter, he has been instrumental in helping the Pioneers become far more competitive on the field. Noah’s leadership extends well beyond soccer. In addition to being a captain and defensive anchor, he is also ranked in the top two of his graduating class, modeling exactly what it means to be a true student-athlete. His commitment, work ethic, and steady presence have made him an incredible role model for his teammates and an invaluable part of Mooresville Soccer. Noah has left a lasting impact on the program, raising the standard of excellence both on and off the field.
