Pioneers Sweep Warren Central in Non-Conference Play

The MHS boys tennis team traveled to Warren Central this afternoon for a non-conference matchup and came away with a dominant sweep. The Pioneers varsity claimed a 5-0 victory, while the JV earned a 5-1 win. For the varsity, Archer Query won at #1 singles 6-4, 6-1. At #2 singles, Baylor Query battled to a 7-6(7-1), 6-1 win, and Jared Kempf followed with a 7-6(7-4), 6-1 victory at #3 singles. In doubles play, Brady McNally and Kolten Wilson cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at #1, while DJ Enkhorn and Grayson Furniss rolled 6-0, 6-1 at #2. On the JV side, Gavin Cooper won 8-0 at singles, while Abram Haack dropped a close 8-4 match. In doubles, Grant Fox and Ben Coffey won 8-1, Landen Stoner and Zach Meador won 8-0, Ben Klopfenstein and Traejen Asher won 8-0, and the team of Traejen Asher and Gavin Cooper added another 8-0 victory. With the sweep, the varsity improves to 7-5 on the season while the JV moves to 5-5. The Pioneers return to action tomorrow, September 10, when they host Avon in another non-conference matchup. Play is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m., with team introductions at 4:50 p.m.
