Friday Night Lights Week One Final Mooresville Pioneers- 28 Bloomington North Cougars- 14 The Mooresville Pioneers opened the 2025 Indiana High School Football Season with a road trip to Bloomington Indiana to take on the Bloomington North Cougars. The Pioneers got behind early in the first quarter as the Cougars scored on an interception to take a 7-0 lead. The Cougars added to their lead early in the second quarter on a 20 yard touchdown reception to take a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter. Mooresville cut the Cougars lead in half as Tyler Denny returned a Bloomington North kickoff 85 yards to get the Pioneers on the board mid way through the second quarter. Denny would score his second touchdown of the night on a 12 yard pass from Connor Cruz to tie the game at 14 with three minutes to play in the half. The Pioneers defense came up with a huge stop allowing the offense one last opportunity to take the lead with under a minute to play in the second quarter. Wide receiver Elijah Thompson would do just that as the junior would catch his first touchdown pass of the 2025 season, a 3 yard reception from Cruz to send the Pioneers into the half with a 21-14 lead. The Pioneers would score for the final time in the fourth quarter as junior Brody Beasley caught a 1 yard pass from Connor Cruz, his third touchdown pass of the night to give Mooresville a 28-14 lead. The Mooresville Pioneers defense showed up in a big way in Friday's win. The Pioneers defense held the Bloomington North offense to 130 total yards (70 passing/60 rushing) and had two takeaways, a Tyler Denny interception and a fumble recovery by Daniel Pius. Despite getting down early (14-0) the Mooresville Pioneers Football Team found a way to turn the tide in their favor and pulled out a week one win. The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday August 29th for the 2025 Home Opener as they host the Terre Haute North Patriots, kickoff scheduled for 7:00pm.
