Pioneers Win Double OT Instant Classic, 81–74 The Mooresville Pioneers picked up a thrilling home victory on Friday night, outlasting Franklin Central 81–74 in a double-overtime battle that will be remembered for a long time. Mooresville trailed 3 points with just two seconds remaining in regulation before converting a missed free throw put-back to force overtime. In the first extra period, the Pioneers showed their resilience once again, overcoming a six-point deficit in the final 35 seconds to push the game to a second overtime—where they took control for good. The Pioneers posted quarter-by-quarter scores of 7-18-12-18-13-13, while Franklin Central finished with 4-18-12-21-13-6. Mooresville shot 41% from the field, including 58% from two and 22% from beyond the arc. Franklin Central shot an efficient 50% overall, 69% from two, and 15% from three. The Pioneers assisted on 9 of their 24 made baskets while committing 11 turnovers. Mooresville battled on the glass, grabbing 28 rebounds—16 of them offensive—while Franklin Central pulled down 40 boards, including 17 on the offensive end. In the second overtime, the Pioneers’ toughness and late-game composure proved to be the difference as they secured the 81–74 win and capped off one of the most dramatic finishes of the season.
