The Mooresville Girls JV Basketball hosted the Lady Trojans of Bishop Chatard for their second game of the 20252-2026 season. The opening night 52-21 win against Southport has given the JV team a boost of energy and confidence coming into tonight's game. This is the first time the Mooresville JV and Bishop Chatard JV have ever faced one another. With all three teams in action on Thursday night, the Lady Pioneers JV team took the court with a smaller bench than the Southport game earlier in the week. The Lady Pioneers JV did a good job in the first quarter by pulling back within 1 point at the end of the quarter after giving up a small lead in the opening minutes. But that just close enough pattern would play out frequently over the night. The Lady Pioneers would play hard but never win any of the quarters against Bishop Chatard. When the Pioneers would start to put the pressure on the Lady Trojans and get back within one or two baskets, the Pioneers would have an unfortunate bounce that would lead to a Chatard basket. The Lady Pioneers JV team gave everything they could for the whole game but they were defeated by a better team on the night 34-24. The 34-24 defeat for the Lady Pioneers ends their first week of the season with a record of 1-1. Leading the JV team in scoring was Ivy Land with 6 points. Bishop Chatard will travel on Saturday to Scottsburg for their next game. Mooresville will begin to prepare for next Tuesday’s game at Columbus North. Last season, the Lady Pioneers and Lady Bulldogs played a very competitive game that ended in a Columbus North win 21-19 in overtime.
