The Varsity Loogootee Lady Lions traveled to the historic Hatchet House on Thursday night to take on the Washington Lady Hatchets. Both teams entered the matchup eager to return to the win column, and the night did not disappoint. After falling behind early, Loogootee rallied for a dramatic first-set comeback, edging Washington 28-26. The Lady Lions dropped the next two tightly contested sets 23-25 and 21-25, but refused to back down. Facing a 1-2 deficit, they stormed back with renewed energy to take the fourth set 25-15 and closed out the decisive fifth 15-11. The thrilling five-set victory gives the Lady Lions momentum heading into a full slate today at Castle High School, where they’ll face Class 4A programs Castle, Terre Haute South, and Bloomington North. The win moves Loogootee to 7-13 on the season. In the JV contest that followed, the Washington Lady Hatchets topped the Lady Lions in three sets, 25-11, 22-25, 15-7. The Loogootee JV squad now sits at 4-9.
