In the best rivalry in high school sports, the Loogootee Lady Lions traveled to Barr-Reeve for a Friday night volleyball match in front of a full gym. On this night, between the games, both schools also came together to honor four local cancer patients in the annual “Volley for a Cure” game. Among those recognized were Pam and her son Hagen Knepp, Benjamin Clark from Barr-Reeve, and Loogootee’s own Makenzie VanHoy. The JV team opened the night, falling in straight sets to drop their record to 4-7 on the season. The Varsity squad also came up short, dropping their match in straight sets and moving to 6-12 on the year. The Lady Lions now turn their attention to a busy week ahead. On Tuesday, they will host the Class 1A No. 3–ranked Springs Valley Lady Blackhawks. Thursday takes them on the road to the Hatchet House to face Washington, before wrapping up the week on Saturday at the Warrick Invite, a tournament loaded with great teams.
