Lady Lions Battle Hard in Five-Set Thriller Against Orleans The Loogootee Lady Lions fought hard Thursday night at JBA, ultimately falling to the Orleans Lady Bulldogs in a five-set nail-biter. Trailing 7-13 in the deciding set, the Lady Lions sparked a late rally with four straight points behind the serving of Lydia Hawkins, forcing a Bulldog timeout at 11-13. Despite the surge, Orleans held on to secure the win. For Varsity, Alaina Diamond led the attack with 17 kills. Senior Macy Knepp and sophomore Savannah Greene each added 10 kills. From the service line, Hawkins and Jocelynn Sims tallied five aces apiece, with Hawkins also leading in total service points at 19. Defensively, Lauren Nolan and Diamond dominated the net with nine blocks each. Libero Sims anchored the defense with 29 digs, while Knepp added 24. In setting, Hawkins recorded 24 assists, and senior Cora Consley contributed 13. The Varsity squad falls to 1-4 on the season. The JV team earned a strong 2-0 victory, improving their record to 1-3.
