This past Saturday, our 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams traveled to Barr-Reeve to compete in their JH Invitational, which featured four highly talented Southern Indiana volleyball programs. The 8th grade squad opened the morning with a hard-fought two-set loss to Barr-Reeve (20-25, 12-25), followed by another tight match against Tecumseh (18-25, 22-25). They bounced back with grit in their final game, edging Jasper in a thrilling three-set battle (25-16, 21-25, 17-15). The 8th grade team moves to a 4-2 record following today. The 7th grade team faced the same three opponents, taking each match to a decisive third set. They narrowly fell to Barr-Reeve (17-25, 25-23, 10-15), Tecumseh (22-25, 25-21, 14-16), and Jasper (15-25, 25-21, 4-15). The 7th grade group falls to a 2-4 record after today. Both teams gained valuable experience throughout the day, lessons that will serve them well as the season continues. The 7th grade squad returns to action Tuesday night at the historic Bird Cage, and both JH teams will play at home Thursday night against Shoals in Lee’s Gymnasium.
