Loogootee Jr-Sr High School

The Loogootee Lady Lions put together a perfect day at the Borden Invitational, going 3-0 and bringing home the tournament championship with victories over Corydon Central, Shoals, and host Borden. Loogootee opened the tournament against Corydon Central and came away with a hard-fought three-set victory, 25-8, 20-25, 16-14. The Lady Lions then defeated Shoals in two close sets, 25-22, 26-24, to advance to the championship match. In the finale, Loogootee took care of Borden in straight sets, 25-22, 25-12, completing the undefeated day and securing the Borden Invitational title. Alaina Diamond led the Lady Lion attack with 28 kills across the three matches, while Karmen Wilson added 16 and Savannah Green finished with 12. Aubrey Gilbert recorded 29 assists, with Lydia Hawkins adding 24. Hawkins also had a big day from the service line, leading Loogootee with 21 service points and six aces. Gilbert added 14 service points, while Lauren Nolan had 13. Green recorded five aces and Nolan added three. Defensively, senior Jocelynn Sims led the Lady Lions with 36 digs, followed by Hawkins with 16 and Nolan with 11. The tournament also featured a major career milestone for Sims, who recorded her 1,000th career dig, becoming just the seventh Lady Lion in program history to reach 1,000 career digs. Sims now sits seventh on Loogootee's all-time career digs list and is closing in on Asia Crim's 1,046 for sixth place. The Borden Invitational championship gives the Lady Lions three more victories and another tournament title as they continue their season.
