Loogootee Jr-Sr High School

The Loogootee Middle School boys and girls cross country teams competed Tuesday evening at the Northeast Dubois Vic Betz Invitational at Celestine Park, putting together a solid team performance against a strong field. On the boys side, Griffyn Thompson led the Lions with an outstanding 3rd-place finish, running 11:17.8. That put him just 5 seconds behind the individual winner and gave Loogootee a huge start at the front of the race. Chayse Houston followed with another excellent performance, placing 15th in 12:06.4. The Lions then had a very tight group behind him: Noah Sergent — 45th, 13:21.5 August Weitkamp — 48th, 13:28.7 Liam Hilligoss — 56th, 13:37.8 Ryder Davis — 77th, 14:03.3 Aden Summers — 95th, 14:53.9 Boston Shoultz — 124th, 16:07.7 In the girls race the Lions finished 8th as a team with 169 points, led by 8th-grader Lyric Graber, who placed 20th overall in 14:19.1. Embry Wade followed closely in 25th at 14:51.4, while Gracie Barnett finished 30th in 15:02.2. Loogootee's fourth and fifth scorers were Avrie Bratton, 46th in 16:34.6, and Everlye Jeffers, 48th in 16:42.9. Trinity Kerns added a 55th-place finish in 17:13.1, followed by Harper Tinkle in 67th at 20:06.6. Both squads will be back at it on the course next Tuesday, September 8 when they host their own invite at West Boggs Park.
