Ava Jeffers Wins Southridge Invite; Boys and Girls Run Strong

The Loogootee High School cross country teams turned in a strong showing at the Southridge Raider Invite, highlighted by an individual championship for Ava Jeffers and a runner-up finish for Reese Gibson in the girls 5K. Jeffers led the Lady Lions across the finish line, winning the girls race in 23:21.00, while Gibson followed in 2nd place at 23:44.80. On the boys side, Knox Jeffers paced the Lions with an outstanding 2nd-place finish in 17:44.90. Mosby Jones finished 8th at 20:33.40, followed by Bode Graber in 11th at 21:29.20, Broc Kerns in 12th at 21:34.90, and Lucas Helderman in 16th at 22:46.10. Jackson Lengacher rounded out the top five at 23:15.60. The Lions finished 3rd as a team with 49 points, trailing Springs Valley and Evansville Christian. Loogootee's five scoring runners combined for a team time of 1:44:08.50, with an average of 20:49.70. It was another encouraging day for Loogootee cross country, with strong individual performances from both squads and plenty to build on as the season continues.
