Loogootee Jr-Sr High School

The Loogootee Cross Country teams turned in a strong performance Tuesday night at the North Knox Invitational, with the Lions boys claiming the team championship in the four-team meet. Loogootee was led by Knox Jeffers, who captured first place individually with a time of 18:37. The Lions put together an impressive team effort, with the boys finishing 1st through 7th overall and four runners recording personal-best times. On the girls side, Ava Jeffers led the Lions with a 2nd-place finish in 22:57. Reese Gibson followed closely behind, finishing 4th with a personal-best time of 23:32. Coach Lilly was proud of the effort from both teams. “The kids ran so hard tonight it was a beautiful thing to watch. The boys won and finished in positions 1 thru 7. Ava finished 2nd among the girls, and Reese ran fourth. This team is just about humbly doing their best.” The Lions will look to build on Tuesday night’s performance when they return to action Saturday morning at Southridge for the Southridge Invitational.
