Loogootee Lady Lions JH Softball A v. Barr-Reeve A 5-14-2026 Lady Lions Dismantle Vikings On The Road Thursday’s matchup on the road against conference foe Barr‑Reeve was a steady brick by brick win built on clean pitching, timely contact, and a lot of pressure on the bases. Lady Lions Leadoff Fara Fisher set the tone immediately, singling in the first and later finishing a perfect 3‑for‑3 day at the plate. Her bat packed a punch in the 5-inning contest, but her presence and command in the circle was even louder as she kept the Viking batters off balance and earned groundouts and flyouts all night long. Loogootee opened the scoring in the first with two productive groundouts — the kind of early‑inning execution that doesn’t show up in the highlights but wins games. Alyn Strange brought home the first run. Anna Cramer reached 1st via walk. Taryn Brown was able to move Anna around on a groundout to the left side. Anna showcased her wheels and was able to reach home taking advantage of a receiving error by the third base player. Hanging these two runs early had the Lions poised to execute offensively for the duration. In the third, Alyn drove in another with a groundout, and Taryn followed with a “how did that not go out” double off the fence to extend the lead. Fara laced a right field run‑scoring double of her own later in the inning, part of a night where she reached base every time and stole three bags. Fara earned the win with a composed five‑inning outing, allowing just four hits and one unearned run. She didn’t walk a batter, threw 78 percent strikes, two strikeouts, and opened 14 of 23 at‑bats with a first‑pitch strike. Even with five defensive errors behind her, she and battery mate Taryn Brown stranded seven runners and never let the game tilt. Offensively, the Lions collected eight hits. Alyn drove in three from the three‑spot, Taryn added two hits and 2 RBIs as cleanup, and the lineup kept pressure on Barr‑Reeve with aggressive baserunning and short, competitive at‑bats. Defensively, Loogootee wasn’t perfect — five errors made the night more stressful than it needed to be — but the pitching staff and infield/outfield secured all but one flyout as they found ways to escape traffic and keep the Vikings from building momentum. Final score: Loogootee 7, Barr-Reeve 1 Charms Blow Pop Co-Players of the Game: Elin Wade, Lyric Graber, Fara Fisher -Lyric went 1-2 at the plate scoring 1 run and also secured all 4 chances in the field including a highlight reel shoestring catch in left field foul territory that sent the Lions faithful and her teammates into a celebration frenzy. -Elin didn’t love her night at the plate, but her execution on the defensive side of the ball hauled in all 5 of her chances as she showed out in Center. -Fara went 3-3 plating 3 runs and setting the tone on offense with three steals. She twirled a gem in the circle keeping the opposition wondering and hacking all night to the tune of 4 hits allowed with no walks and one unearned run. Loogootee Lady Lions JH Softball B v. Barr-Reeve B 5-14-2026 Lady Lions B Team Struggles To Find A Groove Thursday’s B‑Team matchup at Barr‑Reeve was one of those nights where nothing ever quite clicked at the same time. The Lions competed, worked counts, and threw strikes, but the Vikings strung together hits early and rode that momentum to a 9–0 win. Barr‑Reeve opened the scoring in the first with two fielder’s‑choice runs following a couple defensive miscues from the Lions left side, then broke the game open in the second with a five‑run inning built on six hits and an additional error. They added two more in the third on another RBI single, and that was all the separation they needed. Falyn Fisher battled through traffic, throwing 31 pitches without issuing a walk and starting 20 of 27 hitters with a strike. She allowed 7 hits — all singles — and the defense behind her extended innings with some missteps, but she continued to compete in the zone. Remington Bell followed strong in relief and combined for 12 swinging strikes, giving the Lions a chance to settle in and fight back, but the bats ran cold. Offensively, Loogootee couldn’t find the breakthrough hit the needed to invite the momentum back across the field. The Lions worked 4 walks and saw 4.16 pitches per plate appearance as the Vikings starter worked through some control issues, but Lions batters only produced six quality at‑bats and never found the barrel consistently. Defensively, the Lions made a few decisions that they might have done differently if they had it to do over again, but didn’t give up a single walk — a sign of composure even on a tough night. Barr‑Reeve found holes, stacked singles, and capitalized on balls in play. Final score: Barr‑Reeve 9, Loogootee 0 Final takeaway: a night where the effort was there, but the timely plays and hits weren’t — and that’s part of the growth curve for these young ballers. #BackToWork
