Loogootee Lady Lions JH Softball A v. Southridge A 5-7-2026 Lions Play Clean Defense to Dispatch Raiders Thursday’s matchup with Southridge was one of those games where Loogootee set the tone early and never let the Raiders get comfortable. Two runs came across in the first — one on an error and another on a clean RBI single from Kori Arvin — and the Lions never trailed again. Loogootee added two more in the third when Taryn Brown lined a single to center and Kori followed with an RBI. It wasn’t a loud inning, but it was efficient, disciplined softball — the kind of inning that wins tight games. Fara Fisher and battery mate Taryn handled the rest. Fara was sharp from the start, allowing just four hits and one run across six innings while striking out seven. She threw 80 percent strikes, opened 22 of 25 at‑bats with a first‑pitch strike, and generated 21 swinging strikes on 73 pitches. When a pitcher is living in the zone like that, the defense gets to settle in and execute. Offensively, Loogootee collected six hits, with Taryn leading the way at 2‑for‑3. Kori drove in two from the middle of the order, and the Lions continued to apply pressure with their speed and forcing Southridge into tough spots. Defensively, Loogootee was nearly blemish free only committing one error. The Lions allowed two runs and stranded six runners. Final score: Loogootee 4, Southridge 2. Charms Blow Pop Player of the Game: Alyn Strange -Handled the Hot Corner all night recording 4 momentum killing put outs to keep runs off the scoreboard. Loogootee Lady Lions JH Softball B v. Southridge B 5-7-2026 Lewis Puts Ball In Play to Walk Lions Off In Dramatic Fashion Lions struck first scoring 1 in 3 of the first 4 frames. Falyn Fisher was a steady presence in the circle and battery mate Anna Cramer caught a wonderful game and recorded multiple popped foul putouts to aid their effort. Ava Knepp handled the word at shortstop tonight and she got plenty of work retiring 4 batters on 6-3 groundouts to teammate Leela Franklin Handling First Base. The 4th inning brought some wrinkles to iron out. Middle Infield missed a coverage assignment and an overthrow error resulted in 3 runs being scored giving the Raiders their first lead of the contest. Lions bats did enough to knot the game at 3-3 in the bottom half of the 4th frame. An opportunity presented itself to allow the young team to determine whether or not they would stand their ground or fold. Focused, Steady, Poised, and Effective was the rest of the story. Lions put runners on via error, walk, bunt and basehit. Bristol Lewis took it from there when the lights were brightest and plated one more run with an RBI single. Final score: Loogootee 4, Southridge 3. Charms Blow Pop Player of the Game: Bristol Lewis -So many bright spots in this game, but when push comes to shove somebody has to delivery the knockout blow and tonight Bristol Lewis came up big in the bottom of the 5th with a ball in play to the right half of the infield to score Leela Franklin and walk the Lady Lions off in dramatic fashion.
