Great Night for JH Track Team in Blue-Chip Conference Meet

The Loogootee Middle School track teams competed in the 2026 Blue Chip Conference Meet and turned in several outstanding performances against some of the top competition in the conference. The Lions were led by a number of conference champions and top finishers as Loogootee athletes continued an impressive spring season. On the girls side, Brylee Bateman highlighted the evening by capturing a Blue Chip Conference championship in the high jump. Bateman’s victory added another strong accomplishment to an already successful season for the Lady Lions and gave Loogootee a conference title in one of the field events. Her performance showcased the depth and talent of the Loogootee girls program as the postseason approaches. The Loogootee boys team also had several major individual accomplishments during the meet. Knox delivered a tremendous distance double by winning both the 1600-meter run and the 800-meter run, showing his strength and endurance in two of the toughest events of the night. In the throwing events, Aydan Gilliland dominated the competition by winning both the shot put and discus, continuing his outstanding season in the field events. Zach Lyon added another conference title for the Lions by winning the long jump, while Hiram soared to a championship in the high jump to round out an excellent night for Loogootee. Overall, the Lions had a very successful showing at the Blue Chip Conference Meet with multiple conference champions and several athletes earning strong finishes throughout the evening. The performances demonstrated the hard work and dedication the middle school track athletes have put in throughout the season. Several of the athletes on the MS track team will be in action at the State Qualifier at Gibson Southern on Saturday, May 16th.
