Loogootee Lady Lions JH Softball A v. North Daviess A 4-30-2026 Lions Cage Cougars at Costello Field North Daviess struck first with a run scored as a result of two bloop fly balls to shallow right field, but the Lions wasted no time flipping the scoreboard as they answered back in the bottom of the 1st. Fara Fisher made it safely aboard via a hit-by-pitch. Alyn Strange punched a single to the left side scoring Fara, and a dropped third strike brought Alyn home to give Loogootee a 2–1 lead they never surrendered. The Lions added on in the third with two more quality swings — Anna Cramer doubled to left to score one, and Taryn Brown followed with an RBI single to stretch the lead. From there, it was all about steady pressure and steady pitching. Fara earned the win with a composed six‑inning performance, allowing just four hits and two runs (one earned). She struck out six, walked two, and generated 21 swinging strikes on 85 pitches. She opened 18 of 23 at‑bats with a strike and had the Cougars guessing all evening. Offensively, the Lions collected nine hits. Taryn Brown was intentionally walked in the 5th when Kori Arvin capitalized on the opportunity and drove in two from the middle of the order. Taryn, Fara, and Alyn each finished with two hits. The Lions were aggressive on the bases, swiping nine bags and forcing North Daviess into defensive pressure all night. A double play by Alyn Strange in the field helped erase a threat, and despite two errors, Loogootee limited the damage to just one unearned run. The Lions also delivered in big moments, driving in three runs with two outs and keeping innings alive with competitive at‑bats. Final score: Loogootee 7, North Daviess 2. Charms Blow Pop Player of the Game: Kori Arvin -1 for 3 on the night with a game breaking 2 RBI single after intentional walk. -2 for 2 in the field with an acrobatic tag applied to a runner caught stealing third and another highlight reel catch to retire the side as she played goalie at Shortstop. Loogootee Lady Lions JH Softball B v. North Daviess B 4-30-2026 Lions Withstand Late Miscues and Rally To Top Cougars Thursday’s B‑Team game against North Daviess had a little bit of everything — an explosive first inning, a momentum swing, and a gritty finish to close out a one‑run win. North Daviess struck first with a groundout RBI in the opening frame, but Loogootee answered immediately and emphatically. The Lions flipped the game with a five‑run bottom of the first, doing the damage on just two hits. Leela Franklin and Jessica Pride delivered timely swings accounting for 4 of the 5 runs plated in the frame. Loogootee added what turned out to be a crucial insurance run in the third when Kollins Jeffers singled to center scoring Lyric Graber to make it 6–1. North Daviess chipped away late, scoring on an error and a pair of singles with a poor decision or two woven in, but the Lions held their ground and closed it out. Falyn earned the win with two innings of one‑run ball, striking out three and walking none. Remington Bell and Kollins followed in relief, combining to navigate traffic and protect the lead. Anna Cramer caught the first two innings and Ava Knepp finished the work behind the dish for the evening. Offensively, Jessica, Kollins, Falyn, and Leela each collected a hit, and Jessica and Leela drove in two apiece. The Lions worked six walks, stole two bases with Kollins leading the way, and posted a 57 percent quality‑at‑bat rate — a strong number in a tight game. Defensively, Loogootee didn’t allow a single leadoff runner and kept North Daviess from stringing together a big inning, even with a couple of miscues. Final score: Loogootee 6, North Daviess 5. Charms Blow Pop Player of the Game: Jessica Pride -Jessica made the most of her only opportunity going 1-1 at the plate and barreling a single to drive in two runs and build a buffer the Lions would need to be on top at the end.
