More MS Records Fall for the Lions at Washington and Vincennes

(Washington/Vincennes, IN - 4/28 & 4/29/26) – The Loogootee Middle School track teams put together two strong nights of competition, traveling to Washington on Tuesday and Vincennes on Wednesday and continuing to show steady improvement across the board. The highlight performances came from record-breaking efforts, as Knox Jeffers set a new school record in the 800M with a time of 2:11, while Brylee Bateman broke the 300M hurdles record with an outstanding time of 51.8. Both marks were key momentum builders for the Lions and set the tone for an impressive two-day stretch. At the Washington meet, the Loogootee girls team finished as runner-up with 75 team points, fueled by several first-place finishes and podium performances. Brylee Bateman led the way with a dominant win in the 300 hurdles and also added a first-place finish in the high jump (4’8”), along with a strong second-place effort in the 200M dash . Kimber Padgett added another individual title by winning the 100M hurdles, while Ivy Phillips claimed first place in the 100M dash, showcasing Loogootee’s strength in sprint events. Relay teams also played a major role in the team’s success. The 4x100 relay team captured a first-place finish, and the 4x400 relay team earned a strong second-place result to close out the meet. In distance events, Gracie Barnett placed fourth in the 1600M, while Laila Barnett added a fourth-place finish in the 800M, contributing valuable team points. Additional top performances included a third-place finish from the 4x800 relay team and multiple solid efforts across sprint and field events. Loogootee athletes also carried their momentum into the Vincennes meet, where the teams continued to compete at a high level against strong competition. Across both meets, the Lions demonstrated depth, versatility, and a competitive edge, with contributions coming from sprinters, distance runners, hurdlers, relay teams, and field event athletes alike. The consistent scoring across events reflects the team’s balance and continued development as the season progresses. Overall, it was an exciting and productive two days for Loogootee Middle School track. With multiple event wins, record-breaking performances, and strong team finishes, the Lions are building confidence and momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
