Varsity Lions Fall to Barr-Reeve

(Loogootee, IN - 4/28/26) The Loogootee Varsity Lions baseball team fell to Barr-Reeve 7-2 on Tuesday night at Les Page Field. Loogootee Varsity Lions got on the board in the first inning after Emmett Graber grounded out, scoring one run. Barr-Reeve jumped back into the lead in the top of the third inning after Loogootee Varsity Lions committed an error, and Armes laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run. Graber singled to center field, which helped Loogootee Varsity Lions tie the game at two in the bottom of the third. A fly out by Underwood gave Barr-Reeve the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fifth. Rawlings Bell pitched four innings in relief for Loogootee Varsity Lions. The hurler gave up five hits and five runs (four earned) while, striking out two and walking three. Mason Britton started the game for Loogootee Varsity Lions. The starter surrendered one hit and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking three. Ben Lester started the game for Barr-Reeve. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking two. Graber provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Loogootee Varsity Lions with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Leadoff hitter Grayson Kluesner led Loogootee Varsity Lions with two hits in two at bats. Royal led Barr-Reeve with two hits in five at bats from the leadoff position. Armes and Graber each drove in two runs for Barr-Reeve. Lester paced Barr-Reeve with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Legacher and Lester each stole multiple bases for Barr-Reeve. Barr-Reeve stole 11 bases in the game. Barr-Reeve were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Cornelius made the most plays with nine.
