Lady Lions Pitching and Defense Carries the Load Against a Formidable Springs Valley Lady Blackhawks Tuesday’s matchup with Springs Valley was all about command, composure, and a pitcher/catcher duo who never let the Blackhawks breathe. Fara Fisher threw a complete‑game shutout to battery mate Taryn Brown, scattering three hits over four innings and pounding the zone with an 85 percent strike rate. When a pitcher starts 19 of 21 hitters with a strike, the game tends to tilt in her direction — and this one did from the second inning on. Loogootee broke the scoreless start when Elin Wade punched a single through in the bottom of the second. From there, the Lions kept applying pressure. Alyn Strange remained hot at the plate and delivered the highlight of the night with a solo inside‑the‑park home run in the fourth, and Kori Arvin followed with a perfectly placed sacrifice bunt to make it 3–0. Two more runs came across later in the inning thanks to a Fara Fisher double and a Springs Valley miscue, and suddenly the Lions had all the cushion they needed. Defensively, Loogootee was spotless — literally. Zero errors, a .176 batting average on balls in play, and three stranded runners. Taryn Brown handled the most chances behind the plate and kept the defense organized all night with steady play, high communication, and a highlight reel catch to stifle any hope of momentum for the Blackhawks. Offensively, Alyn Strange led the way with an electric 2‑for‑3 night at the plate, while Anna Cramer, Kori Arvin, and also Alyn each drove in a run. Even on a night where hitters saw fewer pitches per plate appearance, the Lions made their contact count, lining 28 percent of their balls in play. Final takeaway: elite strike‑throwing, clean defense, and timely hitting — a complete, mature win for the young Lady Lions. Final score: Loogootee 5, Springs Valley 0. Springs Valley JH Softball B 4-21-2026 Dominant Offensive Start and Strong Pitching Seals Win for Lady Lions over SV Blackhawaks Tuesday’s B‑Team game against Springs Valley turned into an offensive showcase early, and Ava Knepp was right in the middle of it. She went a perfect 3‑for‑3 at the plate with two doubles and a single, setting the tone for a Loogootee lineup that piled up 15 hits and an 11‑run first inning. The Lions opened the game with a barrage of quality swings. Kollins Jeffers started the scoring with an RBI single, Ava Knepp followed with a run‑scoring double, Bailey Esch drew a bases‑loaded walk, and then the hits just kept coming. Haley Hager, Bristol Lewis, Jessica Pride, Elin Wade, and Leela Franklin all drove in runs as Loogootee sent hitters to the plate in waves. By the time the inning finally closed, the Lions were up 11–0 and Springs Valley’s back was against the ropes. Loogootee added two more in the second — one on a dropped third strike and another on Ava’s second hit of the day — and the Lions never looked back. Falyn Fisher earned the win with two innings of one‑hit ball, striking out five and walking none. Remington followed with three innings of steady relief, allowing just one run while striking out three. Together, they threw strikes 76 percent of the time and racked up 23 swinging strikes. Offensively, the Lions were relentless. Haley, Kollins, and Falyn each collected multiple hits, and Leela drove in two from the middle of the order. Even on a night where hitters saw only 2.64 pitches per plate appearance, the contact was loud and frequent. Defensively, Loogootee wasn’t perfect — four errors led to three unearned runs — but the pitching staff stranded runners and prevented Springs Valley from ever making a meaningful run. Only two hitters reached after seeing a first‑pitch strike, and the Lions limited the Blackhawks to just two stolen bases on three attempts. Final score: Loogootee 16, Springs Valley 4.
