Loogootee Lions JH Softball A @ Pike Central A 4-20-2026 Late Rally+Miscues Lifts Chargers Over Lady Lions Monday’s game at Pike Central was nearly perfect, except the late heartbreak — beautiful weather, early momentum, big swings, aggressive baserunning, and sharp pitching. However, one inning turned the beauty into ruin. Loogootee came out sharp, Fara Fisher lined a leadoff single to left before snatching a couple bags on her way to third. Lions kept the pressure up with both Alyn Strange and Taryn Brown doubling in the first inning followed by a Kori Arvin Single to Center to take a 2–0 lead. Then stretching it to 3–0 in the third when Taryn punched a single through the infield. By the middle innings, the Lions were in what seemed like full control. Then softball happened. Pike Central put together a five‑run fifth inning — a pair of triples, an error, and a passed ball — and suddenly the Lions found themselves on the wrong end of a 6–5 score. Fara pitched well enough to win, striking out seven and walking none across 4.2 innings. She threw strikes at an 86 percent clip, opened 21 of 24 at‑bats with a first‑pitch strike, and generated 17 swinging strikes. But four defensive errors turned into four unearned runs, and that proved to be the difference. Offensively, Loogootee swung it well. The Lions out‑hit Pike Central 12–10, with Taryn leading the way in the middle of the order. She went 3‑for‑3 with three RBIs and stole two bases. Anna and Alyn each added multiple hits, and the team swiped seven bags overall. The Lions created chances — they just couldn’t quite land the knockout blow. Seven stolen bases, twelve hits, and only 4 strikeouts show the horsepower was there. But falling behind in the count in 19 of 24 at‑bats made it tough to string together the big inning they needed late. Final score: Pike Central 6, Loogootee 5. Highlights: • Taryn: 3‑for‑3, 3 RBIs, 2 stolen bases • Anna & Alyn: multiple hits each • Team: 12 hits, 7 stolen bases Pitching: • Fara: 4.2 IP, 10 H, 6 R (2 ER), 7 Ks, 0 BB • 21 first‑pitch strikes in 24 batters • 17 swinging strikes • 86% strikes overall Team Notes: • 4 errors created 4 unearned runs • No leadoff walks allowed • Behind in the count in 19 of 24 at‑bats The Lions competed hard and created plenty of offense — just couldn’t slam the door shut to put this one away. Our Charms Blow Pop Player of the Game: Alyn Strange - Went 2-3 with a Single and Double Scoring 2 with 1 RBI - Laid down a beautiful SAC Bunt that probably would have been overturned to a 3-3 day if we had the technology for review. -She’s been struggling and mentally in her own head a little recently so to get the monkey off her back and rip the double in the top of the first frame had the coaches very excited for her offensive effort today. -Continuous improvement in the hot corner. On the scoring sheet she may look to have gone 1-2 in the field, but she smoothly converted 2 Put Outs (only credited for 1) and was also victim of a one umpire affair as she back pick tagged a baserunner scrambling to get back to 3rd from a laser sent from behind home plate courtesy of the Field General Taryn. No discredit to the official as their job is difficult, but credit should be received where credit is due and Alyn had a nice game and deserved the recognition. Loogootee Lions JH Softball B v. Pike Central B 4/20/26 Lady Lions B Team Surgical Performance From First Pitch to Last Loogootee opened the first inning with a pair of sharp singles, the first from Kollins Jeffers to drive in herself with some electric baserunning taking advantage of some throwing miscues to score our first run, and immediately set the tone for what kind of game it was going to be. Ava Knepp added to the lead in the third with an RBI single to center, and from there the Lions simply let their pitching and defense do the talking. Falyn Fisher was locked in from the first pitch. She struck out 5 in two innings, didn’t walk a single hitter, and allowed just one base hit. Remington Bell followed with three scoreless innings of her own, striking out 3 and keeping Pike Central guessing with seven swinging strikes. Her only blemish a bottom of the 4th Hit By Pitch. Between the two of them, they threw strikes 80 percent of the time and opened all 17 at‑bats with a first‑pitch strike — about as efficient as it gets! Kudos to Ava Knepp for handling the duties behind the plate. Offensively, Loogootee collected eight hits, with Ava and Kollins each picking up two. Leela drove in two from the cleanup spot, and the Lions kept pressure on the bases throughout the night. Even though they fell behind in the count in 13 of 20 at‑bats, they still found ways to produce runs and keep innings alive. Defensively, the Lions were steady. One error didn’t come back to haunt them, and the staff stranded two runners while allowing just one ball in play to turn into a line drive. Pike Central never mounted a serious threat, and Loogootee closed out the final inning with the same calm they started with. Final score: Loogootee 6, Pike Central 0 Highlights: • Leela: 2 RBIs • Ava & Kollins: 2 hits each • Team: 8 hits, 0 runs allowed Pitching: • Falyn: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 5 Ks, 0 BB • Remington: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 Ks, 0BB, 1 HBP • Staff: 17 first‑pitch strikes in 17 hitters, 80% strikes overall • 17 combined swinging strikes Team Notes: • 1 defensive error • 2 runners stranded • Behind in the count in 13 of 20 at‑bats A strong start, clean defense, and dominant pitching carried the Lions to the shutout win. Our Charms Blow Pop Player of the B Game: Remington Bell -Remington pitched wonderfully tonight and has been on our radar. The coaching staff is watching closely to see which pitchers are actively attempting to take the next step. Pitchers field their position, attack the zone, stay composed, and make adjustments when things get tough all while limiting wild pitches and free passes. Remington is beginning to earn more trust, more consideration for opportunities, and a longer leash each time she gets the ball. -0 Hits through 3 innings with no runs no walks -Two 1-2-3 Innings -Steady, Poised, No Emotion. Had a job to do…Did it.
