Ava Jeffers drove in four runs on two hits to lead Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions past Springs Valley 18-6 on Monday. In the first inning, Jeffers doubled, scoring three runs. Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions scored 11 runs in the first inning on the way to victory. Jocelynn Sims singled, scoring one run, Brynn Lengacher singled, scoring two runs, Chloe Lawson singled, scoring one run, Lauren Nolan drew a walk, scoring one run, Jeffers doubled, scoring three runs, Lengacher drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs. A single by Lengacher, and an error helped Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions extend their early lead in the second. A fielder's choice by Jeffers, and a double by Sims helped Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions extend their early lead in the third. Sims earned the win for Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and five runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Tanessa Jackson took the loss for Springs Valley. The starting pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, allowing 14 runs (10 earned) on 10 hits, striking out none and walking four. Savannah Green appeared in relief for Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions. Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions piled up 11 hits in the game. Sims led Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions with three hits in three at bats. Nolan led Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Jeffers stole two bases. Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions turned one double play in the game.
