MS Track Girls Win Meet; Jeffers/Bateman Break School Record

(Dubois - 4/16/26) It was a great night for Loogootee MS Track and Field last night at Dubois. The Lions headed down the road and came back finishing first in the girls meet and second in the boys meet with Dubois and Shoals. Not only did the teams compete well, but two athletes broke school records. Brylee Bateman broke her second record of the week, this time in the 200M with a time of 28.26. Knox Jeffers broke the 1600M record with a time of 4:55. In the girls’ 100M Ivy Phillips won with a time of 13.75. Trinity Kerns finished 3rd; Kimber Padgett 5th; and Elizabeth Jones 10th. In the girls’ hurdle events Kimber Padgett won the 110M with a time of 18.75 and Gracie Barnett was 5th. Laila Barnett placed 2nd in the 1600M with a time of 7:04. Gracie Barnett and Harper Tinkle were 3rd and 6th respectively. In the girls’ 400M, Ivy Phillips was 2nd; Shyann Salmon 3rd; Emma Jones 4th; and Elizabeth Jones 11th. Laila Barnett was 2nd in the girls’ 800M with a 3:03.37; Emma Jones was 4th; Trinity Kerns 3:20.53 5th; Meadow Edwards 8th. As mentioned, Brylee Bateman won the 200M with a time of 28.96. Lily Phillips was 4th and Elizabeth Jones 9th. In the girls’ field events, Shyann Salmon took 2nd in the discus followed by Lily Phillips in 7th; Harper Tinkle 9th; and Meadow Edwards 10th. Salmon was also 2nd in the Shot Put with a 25’0’ throw. Laila Barnett finished 4th. Lily Phillips was 6th; and Meadow Edwards 9th. Ivy Phillips won the Long Jump with a 13’9” jump. Kimber Padgett was 3rd and Emma Jones 6th. Brylee Bateman won the High Jump with a 4’4” jump. On the boys side of things it was a record-breaking night for 8th grader Knox Jeffers. Jeffers blew the field away with a 4:55.69. Jeffers also won the 800M with a time of 2:14.72. Joining Jeffers in the 800M run were Liam Hilligoss who finished 3rd; Ryder Davis 4th; Aden Summers 5th; Kash Wagler 6th; and Boston Shoultz 9th. Ethan Wildman finished second in the 400 with a 1:05.75 time and Liam Hilligoss was fifth with a 1:08.25. Kamden Wilson placed 7th with a 1:16.31. Zach Lyon was 2nd for the Lions in the 100M with 12.78. Ayden Gilliland was 7th; Liam Hilligoss 9th; and Kamden Wilson 11th. Hiram Tedrow won the boys 200M; Ayden Gilliland finished 6th; and Kamden Wilson 10th. In the hurdle events Jack Divine finished 2nd in the 300M and Hiram Tedrow finished 3rd. Divine also finished 2nd in the 110M hurdles. In boys’ field events Ethan Wildman got 2nd place in the discus. Ayden Gilliland was 3rd; Kamden Wilson 9th; and Boston Shoultz 11th. Hiram Tedrow was 2nd place in the High Jump with a 4’10” jump. Zach Lyon was 2nd in the Long Jump with a 16’8” jump. Hiram Tedrow was 3rd; Ryder Davis 6th; and Kash Wagler 9th. Ayden Gilliland was 2nd in the Shot Put and Boston Shoultz placed 9th. The MS teams will be back in action on Monday night when they travel to Washington.
