Loogootee Lions JH Softball A @ Washington Hatchets A 4-15-2026 Wednesday’s matchup with the Lady Hatchets had the feel of a game where every run mattered, and Loogootee found itself right in the middle of a tight one. The Lions struck first on a passed ball in the opening inning, but Washington answered immediately with a three unearned run bottom half — a walk and a two‑run double flipping the momentum. From there, it turned into a pitcher’s duel with both sides trading punches. Fara Fisher and battery mate Taryn Brown settled in after the first and gave the Lions a chance all night, striking out eight and walking just two across four innings. Fara piled up 13 swinging strikes on 78 pitches and threw strikes at a 69 percent clip. Washington didn’t get much for free — no leadoff walks, and only 23 percent of their contact was squared up. Offensively, Loogootee kept grinding. Back at the top Fara tees off a sharp line drive double to the left field corner. Anna Cramer moves the runner from 2nd to 3rd on a Sac-Slap and Alyn Strange drove in the run on a beautiful base hit bunt down the first base side just how the coaching staff drew it up to score Fara. Jessica Pride also added a hit, and the Lions worked five walks to keep pressure on. Taryn and Fara each reached twice on free passes, and Anna and Fara combined for four stolen bases. The Lions started four innings with the leadoff hitter aboard, but couldn’t quite cash in the big swing they needed. Five runners were left on, and none of the runs came with two outs. Defensively, two errors proved costly, leading to three unearned runs — the difference in a one‑run game. Even so, the Lions kept fighting, kept getting runners on, and kept giving themselves chances late, which is all the coaches can ask. When the dust settled effort was there, opportunities were there, and the Lions were one swing away from finding the favor on the scoreboard. Back to work. Final score: Lady Hatchets 5, Loogootee 4 Our Charms Blow Pop Player of the Game: Fara Fisher - 3 Quality-At-Bats going 1-1, drawing 2 walks, scoring 2 runs, and snagged 2 stolen bases -Best Hit of the Game -Strong Pitching Line with a complete 7 hit 5 inning game throwing 54 strikes out of 78 pitches allowing 2 earned runs and defended the middle with 2 put outs on 2 chances Loogootee Lions JH Softball B v. Washington B 4/15/26 Strong Pitching, Timely Hitting, and Defensive Magic Proved Too Much For the Hatchets Wednesday’s B‑Team matchup with the Lady Hatchets had a little bit of everything — early offense, steady pitching, and a defense that turned more double plays than most middle‑school games see in a month. Loogootee wasted no time in the first inning. Falyn Fisher came up with the bases loaded and delivered a single that cleared them thanks to some aggressive baserunning and a little help from the defense. Another error pushed two more across, and suddenly the Lions were up 5–0 before Washington had a chance to settle in. The Lions added another run in the third when Bristol Lewis punched a single through to make it 6–0. From there, Loogootee kept the pressure on while the pitching staff handled the rest. Falyn earned the win with a big thanks to her battery mate Ava Knepp spun the wheel four innings with four strikeouts and no walks — exactly the kind of outing that keeps a game under control. Kollins Jeffers followed in relief, working around a couple of walks and striking out one in a two run frame. Offensively, the Lions collected nine hits. Kollins and Leela Franklin each had two, while Bristol, Falyn, and Leela each drove in a run. Kollins also swiped two bases for good measure. Even on a night when the quality‑at‑bat rate wasn’t where they wanted it, the Lions still found ways to produce. Defensively, Loogootee turned three double plays, which is impressive at any level and Kollins accounted for two of them while Bailey Esch was responsible for the other. A couple of errors extended innings, but the staff stranded four runners and limited the damage. Falyn and Kollins combined for 15 swinging strikes, and the Lions kept Washington from ever building a big inning. Timely hitting, clean pitching, and three double plays makes for a nice tally in the win column. Final score: Loogootee 8, Lady Hatchets 4 Our Charms Blow Pop Player of the B Game: Kollins Jeffers -Two standout double plays to retire the side and keep the Hatchet base runners at bay -7 total chances on defense converting 6 with only one blunder -The leadoff batter barreled two doubles going 2-3 scoring 1
