Loogootee Varsity Lions snatched the lead late in their 3-2 victory over Wood Memorial on Tuesday. The game was tied at two in the top of the seventh when Bell drew a walk, scoring one run. Both teams were strong on the bump. Loogootee Varsity Lions pitchers struck out nine, while Wood Memorial sat down nine. Wood Memorial opened the scoring in the first after a wild pitch scored one run. Loogootee Varsity Lions took the lead in the top of the third inning after Kluesner singled down the left field line, and Britton walked, each scoring one run. Stunkel walked, which helped Wood Memorial tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth. Britton earned the win for Loogootee Varsity Lions. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and two runs over five and one-third innings, striking out six and walking five. Strickland stepped on the mound first for Wood Memorial. The pitcher gave up four hits and two runs over three innings, striking out three and walking two. Graber pitched one and two-thirds innings of scoreless ball for Loogootee Varsity Lions in relief. The pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out three and walking none. Kluesner went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Loogootee Varsity Lions in hits. Loogootee Varsity Lions turned one double play in the game. Loogootee Varsity Lions were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Bell made the most plays with 11.
