Varsity Baseball Falls to Lincoln

Loogootee Varsity Lions had trouble keeping up with Vincennes Lincoln in an 11-0 loss on Friday. Vincennes Lincoln got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Anderson singled, Collins doubled to center field, Phillips singled to center field, Loogootee Varsity Lions committed an error, and Johnson grounded out, each scoring one run. Vincennes Lincoln added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Phillips doubled, scoring one run, Ransom doubled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. A single by Anderson extended the Vincennes Lincoln lead to 10-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Kluesner led things off on the bump for Loogootee Varsity Lions. The starter gave up eight hits and nine runs (seven earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking three. Ransom opened the game for Vincennes Lincoln. The starter surrendered three hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking one. Helderman, Kluesner, and Miller each collected one hit for Loogootee Varsity Lions. Vincennes Lincoln amassed 11 hits in the game. Anderson led Vincennes Lincoln with three hits in three at bats. Ransom, Anderson, and Phillips each drove in two runs for Vincennes Lincoln. Collins and Wonning each collected multiple hits for Vincennes Lincoln. York led Vincennes Lincoln with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. York stole two bases. Vincennes Lincoln ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game. Vincennes Lincoln were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Collins made the most plays with nine. Next up for Loogootee Varsity Lions is a game at Wood Memorial on Tuesday.
