The Lions Swat the Jackets and Defend the Home Opener in Dramatic Walk-Off Fashion Loogootee JH Lions A Team spotted MJHS a 4–0 lead in the first inning, but got locked in afterward. The Lions answered immediately with a five‑run bottom half, sparked by back‑to‑back doubles from Alyn and Remington. Just like that, the deficit was gone. And then came the bottom of the fifth inning — With the game tied, 2 outs, and nobody on, Fara Fisher stepped in and delivered a piercing ground ball to third. Third Base bobbled the hard hit ball being forced to rush her throw wide and rolling down the right field fence. Fara Raced around the bags and with a subtle right fielder throwing hesitation Fara was sent home for a close face first sliding play at the plate…..SAFE!!! Walk-off single with three extra bases to seal a 7–6 win for the Lions. Fara earned the win in the circle, throwing all five innings with six strikeouts and no walks. She piled up 23 swinging strikes on 66 pitches and threw strikes at an 84 percent clip — the kind of efficiency the coaches are looking for in their Ace. The Lions collected eight hits, drew six walks, and got big contributions from the bottom of the lineup. Kori and Alyn each had two hits, Remington drove in two from the eight‑spot, and Fara reached base three times on walks and stole two bags for good measure. Defensively, Loogootee made MJHS earn nearly everything — no leadoff walks, 20 first‑pitch strikes in 22 batters — but three errors led to four unearned runs and forced the staff to throw nine extra pitches. A tight contest throughout, but when the dust settled, the Lions placed a tally in the win column. Final score: Loogootee 7, MJHS 6. Our Charms Blow Pop Player of the Game: Fara Fisher - 3 Quality-At-Bats garnering 3 walks, 2 runs, and swiped 2 stolen bases -Strong Pitching Line with a complete 4 hit 5 inning game throwing 56 strikes out of 66 pitches allowing 2 earned runs, no walks, and defended the middle with 4 put outs on 4 chances including a line drive come-backer to retire the side. -Walk-Off Single with three extra bases to finish off her pitching performance **Lions JH Softball B v. Mitchell 4/8/26** Loogootee wasted no time stacking up hits. Kollins led the charge with a perfect 3‑for‑3 day — three innings and three singles. The Lions opened the first inning with a four‑run burst: Falyn doubled in a run, Bailey ripped a two‑run triple, and Leela added an RBI single. Before MJHS could settle in, Loogootee was already in control. The second inning brought more of the same. Kori punched an RBI single through, Ava followed with a two‑run double, and the Lions’ dugout had plenty to cheer about. By the third, Loogootee was rolling downhill. Kollins drove in two more with her third single of the day, Falyn added a run on a groundout, and a pair of miscues by MJHS pushed the lead to 12–3. Leela earned the win, working through some early traffic but limiting MJHS to just one hit. Remington followed with two scoreless innings, striking out four and giving MJHS hitters all kinds of trouble — ten swinging strikes in just two frames. Offensively, the Lions piled up 12 hits, eight stolen bases, and three players with two RBIs apiece (Ava, Kollins, Falyn). Defensively, they forced MJHS to earn everything: no leadoff walks, only one stolen base allowed, and just 20 percent line‑drive contact. It wasn’t perfect — a few walks, a few extended innings — but the Lions stranded five runners, controlled the pace, and never let MJHS back into it. Final score: Loogootee 12, MJHS 3. Our Charms Blow Pop Player of the B Game: Ava Knepp -First catching start of the season—Strong Performance managing base runners (only 1 steal) and keeping balls off the backstop. -Went 2-3 with a Double, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored, all while swiping 3 stolen bases
