Loogootee Varsity Lions had trouble keeping up with Vincennes Rivet in a 10-4 loss on Thursday. Loogootee Varsity Lions opened the scoring in the second after Arvin singled, scoring one run. Vincennes Rivet jumped into the lead in the bottom of the second when Holka singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. Loogootee Varsity Lions scored one run in the top of the third on a solo home run to left field by Kluesner. A fly out by Stricklin extended the Vincennes Rivet lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the third inning. Vincennes Rivet committed an error, which helped Loogootee Varsity Lions tie the game at four in the top of the fifth. Vincennes Rivet flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 9-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Bezy that drove in two. Bell started on the bump for Loogootee Varsity Lions. The pitcher gave up eight hits and nine runs (two earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three. Thacker stepped on the hill first for Vincennes Rivet. The hurler allowed five hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Graber led Loogootee Varsity Lions with two hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Kluesner and Arvin each drove in one run for Loogootee Varsity Lions. Graber stole two bases. Vincennes Rivet amassed 10 hits in the game. Bezy led Vincennes Rivet with two hits in three at bats. Holka and Stricklin each drove in two runs for Vincennes Rivet. Vincennes Rivet ran wild on the base paths, amassing five stolen bases for the game. Vincennes Rivet turned one double play in the game. Loogootee Varsity Lions will travel to Vincennes Lincoln for their next game on Friday.
