Coach Franklin Earns First Career Win Against Lady Hatchets

Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions earned the Win on Monday. They got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Brynn Lengacher drew a walk, scoring one run, Chloe Ramsey singled, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored one run. Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions added two runs in the second. Washington committed an error, making the score 6-0. Savannah Green earned the win for Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions. The starter gave up one hit and four runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking six. Mia Humphries took the loss for Washington. The starting pitcher went six innings, allowing 12 runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out eight and walking five. Chloe Lawson, the number eight hitter for Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions, led the way with two runs batted in. The second baseman went 1-for-4 on the day. Jade Lawson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions in hits. Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions had a strong eye at the plate, tallying five walks for the game. Maycee Hembree and Lengacher led the team with two bases on balls each. Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game. Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions turned one double play in the game. Coach Franklin said, “The girls are starting to play better fundamental softball and are starting to get more aggressive early in the box. It’s a learning process and we progress through the regular season, but these ladies are up to the challenges that are ahead.” Loogootee Varsity Lady Lions will travel to Bloomfield for their next game on Tuesday.
