The boys Varsity/JV basketball teams both notched another victory on Friday night over Mitchell. The Varsity won 61-35 and the JV team won 49-25. The Varsity Lions improved to 14-7 and the JV moved to 9-6 on the year. The Varsity got out to a 17-10 first quarter lead and led 37-20 at half. The Jackets scored the first seven points of the third quarter before Cooper VanHoy hit a three to push the lead back to 13 and from that point the Lions never looked back. Will Lyon led the Lions with 24 points. Cooper VanHoy had 18 points and AJ Foster joined them in double figures with 11. Christian Garcia had 4 points and Seth Salmon and Chase Miller each chipped in with a basket. "Will played his best game of the year. He knocked down some shots that really got us rolling and then when they came out hard on him, he was able to get some great looks going at the rim," said Coach Thompson speaking of the Junior who had 19 points in the first half. "Cooper (VanHoy) really played a great game for us both ways. He got our pressure going out front that got them out of their rhythm offensively," commented Coach Thompson. The Lions will return to action on Tuesday night when the JV travels to Washington Catholic and the Varsity and JV will both be in action when they entertain Dubois.
