On Tuesday night, the Varsity Lady Lions hosted the Pike Central Lady Chargers, looking to secure their 11th victory of the season. Loogootee came out firing, jumping out to a 15–2 first-quarter lead behind a balanced offensive attack. Alaina Diamond and Alexis Heckard each scored four points in the opening frame, while Sophia Toy knocked down a three and freshmen Lydia Hawkins and Karmen Wilson added buckets of their own. A three from Heckard followed by a floater in the lane from Ava Jeffers stretched the lead to 20–2, and a Hawkins bucket in the paint sent the Lady Lions into halftime with a 22–8 advantage. Loogootee opened the second half with three straight baskets from Diamond, pushing the lead to 28–8, their largest of the night. Pike Central responded with a 10–0 run, but Jeffers stopped the momentum with a corner jumper. A Hawkins putback and free throw, followed by a Madison Davis layup, gave the Lady Lions a 36–20 lead heading into the final quarter. Diamond added a pair of free throws in the fourth, and Heckard connected on another three to cap the scoring as the Lady Lions cruised to a 41–22 victory. The win moves Loogootee to 11–5 on the season. The Lady Lions return to action Thursday night as they host Vincennes Rivet in conference play.
