The Varsity Lady Lions dropped another close contest Saturday night in a boys/girls doubleheader at Springs Valley. The game opened with a hot-shooting Blackhawks attack, as Springs Valley knocked down five first-quarter three-pointers to jump out to a 17–3 lead after one. Loogootee responded behind Alaina Diamond, who helped steady the Lady Lions and lead a push that cut the deficit to 23–15 by halftime. The momentum carried into the third quarter, as Diamond continued to attack the rim and Sophia Toy connected on a key three, trimming the margin to 30–25. The Lady Lions battled throughout the fourth and got the deficit down to three, but were unable to complete the comeback, ultimately falling 41–34. The loss moves Loogootee to 6–4 on the season. Diamond led the Lady Lions with 24 points and 10 rebounds, adding 4 blocks for her ninth double-double of the year. Lydia Hawkins finished with 4 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Sophia Toy and Alexis Heckard each added 3 points. The Lady Lions return to action Tuesday night with another tough road test at Forest Park.
