On Saturday morning, the JH Lady Lions were able to make up their game from last Monday’s snow out with the Mitchell Lady Bluejackets. The 7th grade came into the game looking to gain some momentum heading into Winter Break, and they did just that. They jumped out to a 13–0 lead and never looked back. At the end of one they were up 17–3, at the half 29–11, after three 38–15, and they ended the game with a 44–15 victory. The Lady Lions also got one heartfelt bucket from Sophia Ausbrooks, assisted by Elin Wade, to close out the game. Ayla Hawkins finished with 12 points, 8 steals, and 5 rebounds. Kori Arvin finished with 9 points, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Abby Meyer finished with 7 points, Lyric Graber ended with 6, Emma Downey with 5, Elin Wade added a three, and Sophia Ausbrooks finished with 2. Remington Bell also pulled down 4 rebounds and had 3 steals. It was a great team win for the 7th graders as they head into break at 8–5, and they will be off until hosting Orleans on January 5th. The 8th grade Lady Lions looked to continue their winning ways after getting back on track following a couple of losses earlier in the month. They did just that as well, jumping out to a first-quarter 16–4 lead and a halftime score of 24–9. The game ended with a 44–17 victory, fueled by 14 points from Sydnee Salmon, along with 8 rebounds. Addison Moore finished with 10, Taryn Brown had 3 buckets, Hattie Humerickhouse finished with 5 points, Fara Fisher and Skylyr Raney each finished with 4, and Brylee Bateman finished with a single free throw. The 8th graders move to 11–2 on the season and will also be off until the home game against Orleans on January 5th.
