Lady Lions Open Activities Center With Sweep Over South Knox On Monday night, the Junior High Lady Lions took the floor for the first time in the new Activities Center, welcoming the South Knox Lady Spartans for a two-game slate. Both Loogootee teams defended their new home court successfully, earning wins to open the building on a high note. 7th Grade: Loogootee 24, South Knox 16 The 7th grade Lady Lions started fast, scoring immediately off the tip with a basket from Abby Meyer. Ayla Hawkins added a layup to make it 4–1 before South Knox answered, but a defensive steal from Emma Downey led to an Elin Wade finish to keep Loogootee in front. Hawkins continued attacking, scoring off an offensive rebound and then knocking down two free throws to stretch the lead to 10–3. A steal on the inbound by Kori Arvin extended it to 14–5, followed by back-to-back baskets from Alyn Strange to push the margin to 18–5. A Wade drive capped the strong first half with the Lady Lions ahead 20–5 at the break. Loogootee slowed offensively in the second half, not scoring a field goal until Arvin converted early in the fourth to make it 22–11.
